This year’s Winter Commencement student speaker is Yasmin Alamin, who is graduating this December with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering.

Gurdip Singh is the divisional dean of George Mason University’s new School of Computing and a professor in the College of Engineering and Computing. He officially joined Mason on August 1, he is currently on assignment to the National Science Foundation. He will join Mason full-time in January 2023.

Jin will complete a three-week long micro-internship at a local tech company as part of Break Through Tech Mason's 2023 Sprinternship program. "Since technology is constantly changing, my goal is to not be afraid of change and to explore my curiosity," she says.

During his time at Mason, Isaiah Epps burnished his résumé with internships at the Federal Aviation Administration and the Jacobs Engineering Group.

Faculty, staff, and students from three units across Mason have worked together to create a new VR experience so elementary students can take a “field trip” to the Mason apiary and learn from an expert beekeeper.

With the support of her Mason mentors, doctoral student Shrishti Singh has achieved her goal of developing a promising new technology that would allow cancer to be visualized in deep tissue and perhaps diagnosed earlier.

This year, two winners were selected for the Katona Scholarship for Excellence in Bioengineering. The scholarship is awarded to George Mason bioengineering seniors  who aim to support society at large through their excellence across academic performance, leadership initiatives, and career aspirations.
