If you’re looking for hands-on activities that encourage creativity and nurture a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) from an early age, OSSE offers an array of diverse activities.
Our workshops, summer camps, and school partnerships, enhance technical skills and emphasize the importance of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. We reach out to Virginia’s communities, to create a more inclusive and diverse because we know that we’re stronger when we work together.

Fall STEAM Fest
The Fall STEAM Fest brings together students, educators, and community members to celebrate and explore the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Organized in partnership with STEM NOLA, a nationally recognized organization dedicated to exposing, inspiring, and engaging communities in STEM education.
Spring into STEM Event
Spring into STEM is an annual celebration designed to engage students, faculty, staff, and the broader community in STEM fields. It includes a variety of activities such as hands-on workshops, research presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, all aimed at inspiring and fostering a deeper interest in STEM disciplines.
STEM Summer Saturdays
STEM Summer Saturdays is an outreach program designed to engage K-12 students in hands-on STEM activities. Hosted by the College of Engineering and Computing, the event features workshops, demonstrations, and interactive sessions led by faculty, students, and industry professionals.
