George Mason University has received a $3.75M per capita grant from GO Virginia, a state-funded initiative administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.

George Mason Department of Computer Science Assistant Professor Foteini Baldimtsi has been granted a National Science Foundation CAREER Award for her project, Privacy Preserving Transactions with Accountability Extensions. 

George Mason University assistant professor Zhisheng Yan in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology will lead a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER research project called Machine-centered Cyberinfrastructure for Panoramic Video Analytics in Science and Engineering Monitoring to further develop and enhance machine centric video compression and transmission.

The final round of George Mason University’s fifth annual Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition was held virtually on April 9. From this year’s 13 finalists, the judges chose three first-place winners and three second-place winners.

The localized enlargement of arteries in the brain, known as cerebral aneurysms, can have devastating consequences. Mason researcher Juan Cebral and his team are studying major risk factors for aneurysms and how to identify high-risk patients who need prompt and aggressive treatments.
