George Mason University College of Engineering and Computing faculty members are developing ways to hide text messages in plain sight, protecting from would-be hackers the sensitive messages of military personnel, law enforcement, and others.

Baskar is one of fifty-four George Mason students participating in Break Through Tech's 2023 Sprinternship program. She will complete a three-week long micro-internship at a local tech company.

With the support of her Mason mentors, doctoral student Shrishti Singh has achieved her goal of developing a promising new technology that would allow cancer to be visualized in deep tissue and perhaps diagnosed earlier.

This year, two winners were selected for the Katona Scholarship for Excellence in Bioengineering. The scholarship is awarded to George Mason bioengineering seniors  who aim to support society at large through their excellence across academic performance, leadership initiatives, and career aspirations.

As a sophomore, electrical engineering major Sai Srivatsav Gutala started a student club called the Inventors and Innovations Team (IIT) with one of his classmates, computer engineering major Nicholas Paschke.

It has been busy year at the Mason Innovation Exchange (MIX). Since the George Mason University makerspace opened in its new space in Horizon Hall in September 2021, it has seen a lot of traffic—more than 9,000 visitors in spring 2022—and has some successes to report.

Through the NoVa Node of the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative, George Mason is offering students paid internships in a cybersecurity of technology start-up or small business, within the Northern Virginia area. Pay is $18 an hour. Internships will start Spring of 2023 and run six to ten weeks.
