This is the first of a three-part series about George Mason University’s role as the NoVa Node headquarters of the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI), Virginia’s main access point for workforce development, cybersecurity innovation, and research.

George Mason and AWS are working together on a new renewable energy lab and launching a concentration in Sustainable Data Center Engineering.

There were many outstanding performers at George Mason University this past academic year, from musicians to actors to athletes. Less celebrated but no less impressive was the virtuoso performance of a determined IT major at a job fair, a star turn that commanded the attention of University Career Services representatives.

At a Computing Career Reception, juniors and seniors in CS and IST networked with tech industry representatives from companies such as Appian, Brillient, and Verisign.

In an initiative funded by the Northern Virginia Node of the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI), George Mason University partnered with the Children's Science Center and local cybersecurity firms to help expand the pipeline of cybersecurity professionals.
