Students learn to apply IT to support business processes. The minor equips graduates with strong problem-solving, writing, and communication skills. There is virtually no business or organization that doesn't rely on IT, whether it's analysis, programming, software testing or consultancy, to name just a few of the options open to you.
Minors must be completed in conjunction with a bachelor's degree.
Minor Requirements
Core Courses (12 credits)
- One of the following:
- IT 102 - Discrete Structures (3 credits)
- MATH 125 - Discrete Mathematics I (3 credits)
- IT 104 - Introduction to Computing (3 credits)
- IT 105 - IT Architecture Fundamentals (3 credits)
- IT 106 - Introduction to IT Problem Solving Using Computer Programming (3 credits)
Technical Focus Courses (6 credits)
- Technical Focus Courses (6 credits) (at least 3 upper division credits)
Opportunities
The minor is designed primarily for non-Volgenau School of Engineering majors who desire to supplement the knowledge gained through their major-related courses with a foundation of information technology (IT) topics. Completing this minor provides students with the necessary skills to improve their attractiveness to employers in our technology-driven society.
