Biography

Brenda Betancourt is associate professor in the Department of Statistics at George Mason University. She received her PhD in statistics and applied mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Before joining George Mason in August 2025, she was senior statistician at NORC at the University of Chicago, assistant professor in the department of statistics at the University of Florida and a postdoctoral fellow at Duke University.

Her research focuses on the development of modern Bayesian methods and computational algorithms for record linkage, small-area estimation, and network models. Her work has been supported by the National Science Foundation and other agencies, with applications spanning health policy, demography, and official statistics.
