Faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the George Mason University College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) attended a men’s basketball game on November 18 for “CEC Night,” part of a year-long celebration of the college’s 40th anniversary.
Dean Ken Ball, on the bench, so to speak, with a bum left shoulder, welcomed nearly 200 people to a reception at the Nguyen Engineering Building prior to the game. Following the reception, most of the attendees walked to Eagle Bank Arena in matching celebratory t-shirts to watch the Patriots dispatch the Jacksonville Dolphins, 79-57.
“It was great to see people from across our George Mason engineering community come out and cheer on the men’s basketball team while celebrating our 40th anniversary,” said Dennis Pereira, chair of the CEC alumni chapter. “We were welcomed back for our own fall homecoming, visiting with old friends and welcoming new ones. Go Mason!”
The public address announcer recognized CEC before the game and at halftime, with images from the college displayed on the scoreboard. Naomi Ahrens, a recent winner of the college’s talent contest through its Office of Outreach, Student Success, and Engagement, sang the national anthem.
