Pouya Rezai, a fluid mechanics expert who will be a tenured associate professor of mechanical engineering, comes to the College of Engineering and Computing from York University in Ontario.

His research centers on understanding the interactions between fluids and biological substances at nano- and micro-scales in micro-environments using devices that mimic biological mechanisms. Using this research, he helps develop devices such as sensors that can be used in human health and safety applications. Rezai earned his PhD in mechanical engineering and biomicrofluidics from McMaster University, his MSc in engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, and his BS in mechanical engineering from Isfahan University of Technology.
