Phillip M. Cunio joins George Mason’s Department of Mechanical Engineering as an aerospace engineering expert and professor of practice. He comes to the university from ExoAnalytic Solutions, a company that specializes in the “safety, security, and sustainability of the space environment.”
His research interests include clearing and repurposing space debris, working with small mobile sensor systems and the data they produce, and space vehicle design. Cunio earned a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics and a doctoral degree in space systems, both from MIT. He also holds bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and German from the University of Florida.
