CEIE Students Lauren Alger and Lindsey Kellar Selected to Attend the Naval Academy Science and Engineering Conference (NASEC)

CEIE students Lauren Alger and Lindsey Kellar attended the annual Naval Academy Science and Engineering Conference (NASEC), held in Annapolis, Maryland. The conference provided a forum to bring together the nation's future Navy and Marine Corps officers with their peers from other colleges and universities, both civilian and military, from across the country.

This year's themes included Climate and Technology, Ecology and the Environment, and Energy in Developing Countries. Alger and Kellar, along with other engineering students, discussed various theme-related problems while collaborating on innovative solutions with Navy midshipmen.

Kellar also displayed her research within the Science and Engineering poster session. The poster explored the effects of future land-cover change scenarios on storm surge and coastal flooding in the Chesapeake Bay region.
